McLean County Court Dockets

McLean County, Illinois court records are available through several channels. McLeanCourt.us allows for quick access to public information about court cases in the county. Additionally, records can be searched through the official online tools of the Circuit Clerk, directly at the court clerk's office, or via public terminals in the courthouse in Bloomington.

McLean Court System & Jurisdictions

In Illinois, there are no separate district or magistrate courts as exist in some other states. The entire trial court system is built around the Circuit Court — a court of general jurisdiction. McLean County is part of the 11th Judicial Circuit.

The Circuit Court handles absolutely all categories of cases:

  • Criminal cases — felonies (CF) and misdemeanors (CM). The Criminal Division of the clerk's office maintains records of both types.
  • Civil cases — lawsuits regarding contracts, damages, evictions, small claims (up to $10,000).
  • Family law — divorces, custody, alimony, and protection orders. These cases are handled by the Family Division.
  • Probate cases — wills, estate management, guardianship of incapacitated individuals.
  • Traffic violations — fines, DUI, traffic rule violations.

The official custodian of all court materials is the Circuit Clerk of McLean County. This office accepts case documents, issues copies, and provides public access to records. General oversight of the state's court system is carried out by the Office of the Illinois Courts.

McLean Court Calendar & Upcoming Hearings

To find out the date and time of upcoming hearings, use the Circuit Clerk's public access system. There are two separate portals depending on the type of case:

  1. For criminal cases and traffic violations — Criminal/Traffic Public Access System. Search by last name, case number, or date of birth.
  2. For civil cases — Civil Public Access System. Search by last name, company name, or case number.

Both systems show scheduled hearing dates and case status. The data in the system covers the period from 1991 to the present.

Note: This information is not considered an official court record. If you need an exact hearing date and cannot find it online, call the Circuit Clerk's office directly. Also useful is the county’s general search page, which collects links to court dates and public records.

For checking arrests and recent incidents, the Sheriff Blotter is available — an arrest log that is updated regularly.

How to Get a Copy of a McLean Court Document

Copies of court documents come in two types — uncertified and certified. A certified copy bears the Circuit Clerk's seal and has legal force for submission to other institutions. An uncertified copy is suitable for personal review.

How to Obtain a Copy

In person. Visit the Circuit Clerk's office in the McLean County courthouse. You will need the case number or the full name of the party and the approximate filing date. The clerk will find the case in the archive or on microfilm.

By mail. Send a written request specifying the case number, type of document, and contact information. Include a check or money order for the appropriate amount. The address for mail requests is:

Online. Through the Court Records Search portals, you can view case information, but downloading a certified copy directly from the site is usually not possible — you need to contact the clerk's office for that.

Special Cases
